Tuesday morning started off with rain and wind making it miserable to even think about going outside which gave way to snow, sixteen inches of new snow fell on the mountain. I usually sleep in on Wednesday until around 7:30 however it was all business at 6:45 checking the snow report. A breakfast of sausage, eggs and avocado in corn tortillas with salsa verde was made and consumed. Dressed appropriately for the weather, grabbed my gear and headed for the mountain. Sitting halfway buried in the snow for a minute, reflecting and taking it all in; it used to be a new swell rolling in, head high and glassy were words that made me all giddy; bathing suit and a surfboard are much lighter than what I have now but it still elicits the same wave of excitement, the feeling of butterflies in the pit of your stomach as you prepare to ride…. The feeling of floating in the snow is akin to riding a wave….it’s one of the best feelings in the world….
Most in the valley are eagerly anticipating the arrival of spring I thoroughly enjoyed the resurgence of winter if only for a day…. I went to bed last night tired and sore and with a big smile on my face ~
