This is some good listening
It takes a long time to recover from a hurricane; gulf coast residents know that much. southern people are characters and it takes all kinds. resilient, strong or stubborn (depending on which way you look at it),usually pretty good story tellers (i’m nowhere any kind of good; my grandmothers and aunts now however, are superb) and can make it through almost anything. closing of one chapter and the opening of new doors. spending time in north carolina is always nice. A glimpse into something new in the future and a change of lifestyle where folks sit on the porch drinking something sweet and talk about everything and nothing remembering hurricanes Ivan and Katrina. measuring time by natural disasters. taking one day at a time and being thankful for the small things.
i would in minute go back to korea given the opportunity but the time and place have to be right. i would love nothing better to live in wyoming with the tetons if it was a little warmer. i’ve been to some phenomenally insanely beautiful places this past year. i’m not sure what the this next year holds; i know i turn 33 and if you ask my parents they’ll tell you “i’m coming of age” (it’s a hobbit thing – they’re huge tolkien geeks and have been ever since i can remember). i look forward to gowing older and maybe for the first time in my life really living. it’s taken a while to get here. the sky really is the limit.
